                               Easter Island hike & horseback

Easter Island : The Lost Continent of Hiva      The Ancient Masters were subtle, mysterious, profound, responsive. The depth of their knowlege is unfathomable. Because it is unfathomable, all we can do is describe their appearance. Watchful, like men crossing a winter stream. Alert. like men aware of danger. Courteous, like visiting guests. Yielding, like ice about to melt. Simple like uncarved blocks of wood.  -Lao Tzu, Tao te Ching                                                                       Easter Island   Europeans first sailed to this island on Easter Sunday, 1722, and name it after the date of their landing. They discovered a society in ruins, an environment almost beyond repair. Adding to the mystery of its collapse were these huge stone sculptures called Moai which suggested a greatness of bygone days. What had happened to the people of this Island ?
